Timeline and segments

Trim, split, delete, reorder, and zoom clips on the OhRec Studio timeline.

Last updated August 2026

Segments

The main video track shows your OhRec recording as one or more segments. Each segment maps to a continuous range of the source file. When you trim or delete, you are editing references — the original blob is untouched until export.

Drag the trim handles at the start or end of a segment to remove dead time at the edges. The inspector shows original vs edited duration so you can see how much you have cut.

Split at playhead

Move the playhead to where you want to cut, then click Split in the timeline toolbar or press S. The segment divides into two blocks at that timestamp.

Select a segment and press Delete or Backspace to remove it. Gaps close automatically so playback stays continuous — you do not need to manually close holes.

Reorder

Drag segment blocks on the timeline to change playback order. With a segment selected, use Alt+ / Alt+ to move it one position left or right.

Deleting a segment also removes overlays that fall entirely inside it. Undo restores the previous arrangement.

Timeline zoom

Use the zoom controls in the timeline toolbar to zoom in for frame-accurate splits or zoom out to see the full recording. Zoom affects the timeline view only — it does not change export resolution.

Overlay rows

Text, elements, annotations, captions, and media layers appear on dedicated rows below the video track. Each overlay is a timed block — drag its edges to adjust start and end, or drag the whole block to shift timing.

Select an overlay on the timeline or in the preview to edit its content in the left tool panel. Arrow keys nudge the selected overlay; hold Shift for larger steps. Press Escape to deselect.

Undo, redo, and reset

  • /Ctrl+Z — undo
  • /Ctrl+Shift+Z or /Ctrl+Y — redo
  • Reset edits — timeline toolbar; restores the full original segment layout

Edits autosave as you work. You do not need to manually save before closing the tab.
